Tokyo Lutheran strives to be a church where people can come to worship God every week in a comfortable, spiritually fulfilling environment. Every week we have many different kinds of people walk through our doors that have many different spiritual needs. We have long time Christians, new Christians, non-Christians, and everything in between! For this reason, we strive to be a place that allows people to be part of our community as non-baptized seekers, as well as a place that offers opportunities for baptism, church membership, and guest membership for those people who desire a higher level of commitment in their Christian life (our guest membership program is for those wishing to retain their "home" church membership but wish to fully participate in the life of Tokyo Lutheran Church while living in Tokyo).
But why become a baptized member of a church, you might ask? Church membership is a public statement of a relationship that you share with your church and that your church shares with you. In becoming a member of Tokyo Lutheran Church, the church promises to offer you a spiritual home where you can grow in faith through worship and Christian education, experience the joy of serving through outreach, and enjoy fellowship with other Christians. In this relationship, the church also promises you the care of its pastors and members in your moments of sickness and health, happiness and sorrow.
Tokyo Lutheran believes also that church membership is a two-way relationship. In becoming a member of our community we invite you to offer your time, talents, and treasures to the building up of our ministry.
